Bullets are expensive so I’m building up Remington 700 in .223 to soften the 💲cha-ching 💲 of every trigger pull. It’s mostly just a side project so I’m not dumping money into it, but maybe $300-500 for a scope. It’ll be for around 600 yards. I’m thinking maybe just a Vortex Crossfire II 4–12x50 or maybe I’ll go up to a diamondback. Anyone care to add opinions? I know there’s not a ton of activity here but maybe we can drum up some

For an AR, I’d recommend an lvpo with an offset dot, or a prism with an offset dot. For the bolt action, the lvpo will be fine by itself. They’re good out to the maximum range of 223/5.56 easily. I use a 1-6, but 1&2x are basically pointless. The 4-12 sounds perfect. I prefer FFP, SFP is kinda weird.

I agree with the FFP vs SFP, with the caveat that I really don’t mind SFP on some low magnifaction scopes. I’m thinking the 4-12 range is probably where I’m leaning. I’m trying to decide how crazy I’ll get with this build when it’s just a side deal to take. I’m tempted to swap out the frame, and barrel but at that point I could buy something brand new anyways.

Look into the monstrum lvpos, they’re super low budget. I fuck with vortex too but sometimes you just want to build something to magdump trash and monstrum is where it’s at for that.
