OP9 and OP22 Release Pack

OP9 & OP22 Suppressor Pack

Happy Suppressor Sunday guys. Heads up that the OP9 & OP22 release pack dropped this week after over a year in beta.

Since your first instinct is probably to compare it to the FTN5 gold standard, here’s a few advantages I think it has over the amazing FTN5 series:

  • In terms of specs they are much lighter than even the lightest FTN. The OP22-A is just 3.7 oz (little over 100g) and that’s the heaviest can in the release pack! This is a real consideration for many pistol and PCC setups that aim to priorize weight and maneuverability over sound suppression.
  • The OP9 is the simplest to build 9mm pistol can that actually cycles reliably. This makes it an easier sell to newcomers who want to suppress their pistol. It also makes it easier to build multiple in the age of $0 form1s. Similarly, the OP22 is the simplest 5.7 pistol can.
  • Consolidated build and print video. I believe this helps bring printed cans closer to mainstream. This doesn’t really apply to us turbo autists on this forum but imo n00bs will have a much easier time if they can just follow a video after buying a printer and be done with it.

Subjectively:

  • I like the simplicity of boosterless can. Less to go wrong with fewer moving parts + no baffle strikes with FRT/full auto.
  • This thing pairs with the p90 so well with its small size and weight, everyone I’ve handed it to loves shooting it.

Where the FTN series still shines:

  • Any rifle application. Though the OP9 can technically be used for the niche application of suppressing 300BO subs in a tiny package.
  • PCCs where you’re ok with some extra size & weight.
  • Pistols if you’re ok with the extra complexity, parts & cost.
  • Overall sound suppression

If any of the testers in the beta hang out on here thanks again for all your help. And thanks pla.boi for pioneering so much of this, particularly the core supports geometry that the OP cans utilize a very similar version of.
