    I've seen some people do closed-loop earth tube systems. But they collect mold and have drainage issues.

    Older homes and barns use to have Cupolas or widow’s walks, also historically called a roof walk or captain’s walk. The hot air rises and is vented out the top of the house.

    But having lived through the Super tornado outbreak of 2011 and its aftermath, I would like to add three other important thoughts.

    1. Post traumatic stress is real and it messes up your head. Once you live through an event, you realize how diminished your capacity is. Took me a couple of years to fully recover.

    2). No plan survives contact with the enemy. When the shit hits the fan all your best laid plans will be shredded. So have plan B and D and C and ......

    1. Old age comes to us all and it really sucks. Prep that works in your 30's and 40's don't work in your 50's and 60's. And by 70 you need modern medical support systems.

    Just some thought, from someone way to close to 70.

    On a serious note, when I retired and started biking again, my knees just screamed. I could barely do 5 miles on a flat course. It just hurt to much, now I ride and ebike.
