  • I’m with you—I thought I could squeeze more out of 9mm, but I think I’ve hit a wall. You’re probably right that it’s time to move on to a better host like my Huxwrx 7.62.

I’ll DM you the site I use; I'd rather not post the link out in the open for everyone to see, because... reasons. If you see anything else on there that looks solid besides the Hux, definitely give me a shout. I’m really just trying to build a clean multi-cal setup that uses a standard thread adapter so I can finally get away from that 14ccw stuff

side note- why the AI re-write sound kinda human this time? lol

  • Back when I used PPS-CF, sand was my go-to for annealing—so much so that I still default to it today for every annealing. But that’s a tale for another day.

  • The modular nature of the Obsidian 9 platform makes multi-caliber capability attractive. Initial focus spans .22 through 9mm up to 300blk, with the goal of swapping baffle configurations rather than entire units for different applications.

Current 9mm prototype uses interlocking 60-degree cone geometry throughout the stack, complemented by specialized endcap baffles and silicone wipe integration. Performance exceeded expectations significantly—initial range testing produced suppression levels that suggested reduced powder charges, though standard loads were confirmed. The acoustic signature reduction was remarkable.

Next phase involves evaluating various mounting interface options once additional hardware arrives. This will determine optimal attachment methods and identify any compatibility issues across the intended caliber range.

the potential from this printer is... alot

  • Yes, I agree - it seems plausible. I believe they have a genuine opportunity for .22, so I'll definitely research it further.

  • That's really helpful, I'm grateful for the information. I'll search for quality conventional baffles.

need some input from suppressor devs

re written with ai to protect typing fingerprint

I'm working on a custom form 1 suppressor using Obsidian 9 airsoft host. I've settled on a baffle stack for the end piece. Since the Obsidian design allows for modular disassembly into smaller suppressors, I'm considering a dual-system approach. I'm thinking of using a long, gyroid-style baffle after the blast chamber—this type seems popular in metal 3D printing. Has anyone experimented with this configuration? I'm curious about its performance and durability in this application and if it worth pursuing

    question/help with DeAR

re written with ai to protect typing fingerprint

I currently have a CMMG .22 caliber conversion bolt installed in a PSA 16-inch upper receiver. My intention is to convert this setup into a standalone pistol configuration. I'm using a printed barrel with an integrated liner. Assuming the lower receiver is already functional, what additional components would be required to complete the build? these are what i have in the line-up to print

    Metadata Stripping via Proton Mail

re written with ai to protect typing fingerprint

Proton Mail offers a straightforward method for stripping metadata from images. Simply right-click to copy your desired image (alternatively, use Ctrl+C), navigate to the 'new message' section within your Proton Mail inbox, and paste the image (Ctrl+V works here too) directly into the message composition area. You'll be presented with options to either attach the file or embed it inline, with metadata removal available for either choice. While mastering comprehensive metadata removal techniques is recommended for thorough privacy protection, this quick approach works well for casual forum posts and similar use cases.

    FTN.5 Can Measurement thread

re written with ai to protect typing fingerprint

A dedicated thread has been created specifically for the FTN.5 measurements for those who may wish to add a Carbon Fiber or Aluminum Tubing Shroud to their FTN.5.

I usually add 0.5mm to the dimensions to accommodate the JB Weld, though you should adjust based on your preferences.

getting around email verifications when using email re-routing

re written with ai to protect typing fingerprint

Creating a GunCAD account with enhanced operational security requires a multi-layered approach. Begin by utilizing Proton's "Identity and Address" feature to generate a sub-address linked to your primary account (for example: [email protected]). Next, route this sub-address through DuckDuckGo's email protection service to add an additional privacy layer. This dual-routing method can be applied across multiple platforms.

However, a common verification issue arises: since DuckDuckGo addresses function as forwarding aliases rather than standalone mailboxes, they may fail standard email verification checks. The workaround is straightforward—after account creation, immediately use the "Forgot Password" function with your chosen username. This process allows you to reset your credentials while bypassing the initial email verification requirement. another tool for your opsec batbelt
