American Summer
Most of the world shows a notable, and statistically significant, rise in extreme summer heat. That’s not an opinion, it’s a fact. The reason is: global warming. That’s a fact. The cons…

Three things are evident. First, the hottest Three things are evident. First, the hottest summer of all was the super-killer heat wave of 2003. Second, the eight hottest on record are all after the year 2000 (this year seems likely to become the ninth). Third, there is a distinct (and statistically significant) upward trend since around 1975. Anybody who says this is “just summer” in France is a lying liar who tells lies. This is climate change in action.
So why is this this post titled “American Summer“? First, it’s hot in the USA too, with Salt Lake City setting a new all-time high temperature record on Sunday of 109°F, just part of a very hot summer across much of the country, only one of many record-breaking hot days. Second, I want to emphasize that the story here in the continental U.S. (CONUS, a.k.a. the lower 48 states, a.k.a. USA48) is both different from, and more complicated than, the story across western Europe.
The title is actually called "American Summer" so if mods think the excerpt from the article that I used is inappropriate then delate the post, no issues from me.
