Tiny-11 Kimber help plz

so im looking at the build guide while also watching the video as ive never done a 1911. in the video and guide it says "colt must file off some of the hammer strut and 3 rungs from the spring, my question is, is this a colt only thing or would kimber need the same treatment? my main spring isnt nearly as long(seemingly) as the one in the guides colt ad mine also has a detent that goes in the spring, then the spring is depressed and a pin holds the spring compresses within the main spring housing. before i start cutting and filing stuff i was hoping to get some kimber specific build info as it seems to be just that much dif in only this one area
