A short while ago I posted these photos as a tease for a P320 magazine 3D print. JP.guncad had previously dropped a P320 mag STL before he went dark, but the prints never really held up due to the extremely thin feed lips in the steel OEM magazines. After my attempts to print a plastic version of the steel P320 mags went south, I started over.

I have a polymer P320 magazine from ETS that uses different feed lip geometry to get around the problem of thin feed lips. Basically it uses an internal ramp to add some extra reinforcement that starts as a single-stack and then works its way to a double stack, just to give the polymer feed lips more bulk. I’ve run many many rounds through my ETS mag without incident, so I hoped it would work. I’m pleased to say that my printed mag based on a few specific modifications to the ETS geometry fits and feeds flawlessly.

I am going to do some work to see where I can add even more bulk to help with extra reinforcement — probably by adding layers of masking tape outside and re-inserting the magazine to figure out where it fails, then increasing the size of the model by just under that added thickness. Then I will work on a baseplate and a follower and making it functional with a Glock spring, and I’ll make it sail.

DM me if you’re interested in helping!

I’ve completed the thicc version of the magazine and it still seats. I’ve confirmed it takes the ETS follower. Currently working on a version of the follower that is printable (and fits more smoothly) and then I’ll add a baseplate and make it sail. I’m planning on designing it to use Glock springs.

my labs in shambles for the next weeks or so, but if you get a beta up I’m extra HYPED to test. I love my sig but mags are $100+ where I live. Planning for standard or extended glock mag springs?

Beta 1.2 is now up on the odd sea.

I’m thinking that once I get it all working reliably, I will design a baseplate similar to the Hochul mags so that there is just one main body to print and then you can attach extenders to it.

Where I live we are supposed to keep our mags limited to 10 rounds so standard G17 mag springs should be good enough for now but it will be trivial to extend it out and increase capacity for longer springs.

Still coming along well. Working on geometry but I’ve had a few other things take precedence. The open beta is still available on the sea.

UPDATE: I was able to thicken the walls and feed lips without impacting the seating and feeding at all. Confirmed that the new mag body design will seat and will feed using an ETS follower and spring. I designed a follower and a simple baseplate for beta testing purposes; the download is now sailing on the odd sea captained by seven perforce. DM me if you want to help beta test!

I’m expecting a couple of issues we might run into. First will be basic fitment which should be easy enough to fix but will take a couple of rounds. Next I’m concerned that the feed lips might get caught and mangled by the slide if they are too high. And of course the biggest overall challenge is ensuring that the feed lips are strong enough to run high round counts generally.

Are you not concerned about wear from the metal mag release? I’ve heard stories about Glocks with metal mag releases tearing up OEM mags and causing feeding problems.

Maybe, but I’m assuming most of us would have the capacity to print a polymer mag release anyway…

Good to see more work done on these, do you plan on making other caliber versions when you’re satisfied with the design of the 9mm?
