As many of you know, FOSSCAD has faced significant censorship on mainstream platforms. Reddit’s bans on r/fosscad and r/DIYguns, along with the looming threat of a ban on r/supersafety, have made it clear that decentralization is more important than ever for the survival and growth of our community.

This is why we’ve launched FOSSCAD.ioa better, more sustainable alternative to the centralized platforms that are too often subject to arbitrary bans and censorship. The Fediverse offers a platform where moderation is community-driven, and we can build and shape the content we want to see, free from corporate interference.

Calling All Former Moderators

If you’ve been banned from any of the aforementioned subreddits or other platforms, we want to hear from you. Reach out if you’re interested in being reinstated as a moderator here, helping to manage this space and keep the FOSSCAD community safe, open, and welcoming.

Why Decentralization Matters for FOSSCAD

For FOSSCAD to continue thriving, it needs to be decentralized. Centralized platforms have shown time and again that they can’t be trusted to protect free speech and open collaboration, especially when it comes to controversial topics like firearms and defense technologies. By moving to a decentralized platform like Lemmy, we are creating a space that is immune to corporate control and can adapt to the needs of the community, no matter what direction it grows in.

We’re excited to build a sustainable future here, and your participation is key. Let’s continue pushing forward together—with freedom, transparency, and decentralization at the core of everything we do.

Stay tuned, stay involved, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want to get involved in the moderation team!
