  • This might be a hot take, but considering how authoritarian the government is, regardless of who's in control, and how many fudd bootlickers love to be RSOs, I wouldn't test based shit at a range at all.

Do that shit in private out in the wilderness.

  • The turd is gonna be sensitive with anything less than 5.56. Even with 9x19, it couldn't let off a full mag. Check my history.

  • This hobby is not cheap xD

It's worth it though, after you move to decent rifle cartridges it becomes a viable means of defense.

  • $20 is a hard ask, but 10/22 hybrids like the Decimator or the Galileo R2 are perfect. You need a bolt and mags, preferably you'd throw a real barrel in as well but the proto-barrel can be substituted.

  • (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

  • I love looking into the hawt new shit, and I'm sure I'll be buying it, but don't get too caught up on new shit. Basic PLA can fuck, I've got an AR lower over a year old with thousands of rounds through it. Don't worry about your material until it fails. Nylon is great too, but whatever works, works. The end goal is just to send boolits downrange.

  • Technically you could use any 9x19 AR barrel as long as it has the barrel extension with locking lugs, but this is the only one I know of that has those. All other 9mm barrels are built for direct blowback and missing lugs.

  • Smokeless requires some dangerous chemistry, nitrocellulose and nitroglycerin are sensitive, more than you'd think. I would start with production and storage of those before you even consider trying smokeless. If you can make, test, and store those, you'll be fine. The rest of the process is just stabilizing it.

edit: if you live in a place that you can buy smokeless, just buy it. The juice ain't worth the squeeze.

  • I believe the still in beta #beta.aveees.DDxx.3 rails/lb are gen 4/5 compatible. I haven't tried them out cause I get free gen3 slides from work and most all aftermarket focuses on gen3.

edit: if you're just getting started, ignore gen4 and print ddxx.2 projects, 17 or 19, just use gen3 parts. It's the current meta for a reason. Very well established, huge aftermarket for the ecosystem. Not to mention the biggest market in the states is CA and gen4/5 is a no-go there. That means most free states prioritize gen3 production.

  • No issues, but mine isn't direct blowback. I use a CMMG RDB setup, so there's no potential for OOB, when the locking lugs aren't seated, the firing pin can't set off a primer.

The carrier is mostly identical to a milspec 5.56 carrier, the cam pathway is slightly different but the bottom surface that the SS cam depends on is identical. Anytime I do fun stuff with this build I just use the prints for any other AR-15.

  • Interesting, so this happens with the hoffman SS also? You're gonna have to play with buffers and the gas system for sure. I haven't put one in my 5.56 setup yet I just frt the 9x19, it's so smooth.

  • Awesome! Yeah that was the only 43 backplate I saw that didn't have an autosear >_<

  • No problem! Lemme know how it works :)

  • It's possible your scaling was off, try this one out https://guncadindex.com/detail/M12-G43-Baseplate:a

It's the only g43 backplate I could find. This would be a starting position, the size of the backplate and the position of the circular indent on the inside face both need to cooperate for that firing pin sleeve to line up and lock in.

  • It's not the channel liner but the firing pin sleeve that retains the backplate. Are the lips on the charging handle / backplate smooth? Can you smooth them out with a file until it seats fully up?

edit: Try printing that original slim chargy to see if it's a problem with your source model.

  • It's really neat how I can subscribe to this other server but still use this one as the interface. I've never used fediverse before this is interesting.

  • NICE. Are those supersonics?
